Joseph Smith History 1:17

Earlier this year I thought, because we are studying the Doctrine and Covenants, it would be interesting to read the First Vision story including Heavenly Mother as the first personage. I discovered, I didn't need to change pronouns at all. More about it at the Exponent.

17 It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!

In honor of seminary starting up again this school year, here's a scripture mastery! I added "and Lady."

18 And the Lord and Lady called their people ZION, because they were of one heart and one mind, and dwelt in righteousness; and there was no poor among them.

Our Sunday School lesson this week was the Second Coming lesson, so here's an oft-quoted quip to quash the Type-A anxiety of prepared people in the world (sorry, the alliteration had to happen, it was begging me to).

40 But of that day, and hour, no one knoweth; no, not the angels of God and Goddess in heaven, but my Mother and Father only.

Articles of Faith 1:1

I love this statement. It's a belief I can really get behind.

1 We believe in Goddess and God, the Eternal Parents, and in Their Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

Moses 3:9

I added the Lady Goddess and used gender inclusive language: where "man" was, I placed "people." I really really like this verse this way.

9 And out of the ground made We, the Lord God and Lady Goddess, to grow every tree, naturally, that is pleasant to the sight of people; and people could behold it. And it became also a living soul. For it was spiritual in the day that We created it; for it remaineth in the sphere in which We, Goddess and God, created it, yea, even all things which We prepared for the use of people; and people saw that it was good for food. And We, the Lord God and Lady Goddess, planted the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and also the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Abraham 4:5

Yesterday our ward had ward conference and Sunday School was combined for all the classes and conducted by the stake, so we didn't have a regular lesson. So I'm taking my scripture from the Sunbeam lesson I taught yesterday, "I am thankful for the day and night." I added "Goddesses" and that's all I needed to do.

5 And the Goddesses and Gods called the light Day, and the darkness they called Night. And it came to pass that from the evening until morning they called night; and from the morning until the evening they called day; and this was the first, or the beginning, of that which they called day and night.
